Arauca. Troops of the Eighth Division of the National Army, in operations conducted in recent hours, gave a resounding blow to the residual Organized Armed Group structure “First” in the department of Arauca with the capture of that group leader.
This is alias "Ocho", who according to information, has 22 years of criminal experience, where he has served as ringleader of the GAOr squad, responsible for intimidation and forced displacement in the villages of Betoyes and Santo Domingo in the municipality of Tame, as well as the kidnapping of a merchant in the village of Mate Coco in the municipality of Arauquita and the collection of money extorted from merchants, cattlemen and transporters in the department.
This individual had served an 84-month sentence for the crime of rebellion. He is accused of being responsible for leading the theft of two vehicles of the National Protection Unit UNP assigned to protected woman, Tilza Naiza Quintero, on last November 13, 2018. He is also responsible for selective homicides, criminal operations against members of the Security forces, as happened on the last September 1, 2018, where a soldier was killed in Puerto Rondón.
The military operation was carried out in the village Aguas Claras, municipality of Puerto Rondón, where, in addition, four more individuals were captured and troops found abundant war material, a machine gun rifle with a bipod, three rifles, three 9-mm pistols, two hand grenades, 24 magazines, more than 2 thousand cartridges of different caliber, one radio, six cell phones, military accessories, two motorcycles and one of the stolen vehicles of the UNP, documents with important information for the investigative work.
Those captured and the material found were taken to the municipality of Saravena where the capture was legalized, charges were filed and requests for arrest were made by the Office of the Attorney General No. 118 of the Specialized Directorate against organized crime EDA - Saravena, with the support of the operations conducted by the Dijin and the Criminal Investigation Task Force of the National Police.
All those captured were put in preventive detention in a prison.
