Caldas. Guillermo Botero, Minister of National Defense, confirmed at the end of the Workshop “Construyendo País”, that in the early hours of this Saturday, Édgar Mesías Salgado Aragón, alias 'Rodrigo Cadete', was killed in combat in the rural area of San Vicente del Caguán (Caquetá). He was head of GAO-r 9 and former member of the Farc.
According to the Minister, this man had been committing crimes for more than 40 years in the fronts of the FARC 14, 15, 16, 27, 39 and 40. He belonged to the company 'Che Guevara' and the front 'Juan José Rondón', of the southern and eastern blocks of the extinct Farc. He maintained a criminal and financial profile based on drug trafficking and extortion.
"He had declared himself 510 days ago a dissident of the FARC, he had been in Havana and at some point, leaving Paujil, in in the department of Caquetá, he simply fled and declared himself in dissidence, a situation that led him to commit crimes again," Botero said.
