The Marine Infantry Training Base, in Coveñas, in the department of Sucre, was visited by Major General Michael F. Fahey III, commander of the Navy infantry of the Southern Command of the United States, accompanied by the Brigadier General of the Navy Infantry Ricardo Humberto Perico Pinto, commander of the Marine Infantry of Colombia, in order to know the training capabilities and strategic responsibility of the alma mater of the Colombian Marine Infantry and continue to strengthen the ties of cooperation of the Infantry of the Navy of both countries, which will result in strengthening the training of the members of the military Forces allied in the region.
The delegation was received by the brigadier general of Marine Infantry Ricardo Ernesto Vargas Cuéllar, commander of the Marine Infantry Training Base and the commanders of the tactical units present at the base, who presented the capabilities of the International Amphibious Training Center in High Precision shooters, Martial Arts, Water Combat Survival, Canine Guides and Alkaloid Tracks, as well as the capabilities of the Training and Training Center for Peace Operations in Humanitarian Demining and the Leadership Track of the Training School of the navy infantry.
In the same way, a tour by the facilities of the unit, where typical presents of the region were given along with a figure of a basic instructor, as a symbol of the activities that are carried out permanently in the birthplace of the Infantry men of the Navy of Colombia, took place. The visit concluded with a tour by the Marine Infantry Museum Park and the farewell with military honors to the visiting authorities.
