The sustained development of simultaneous search and fluvial control operations carried out in the municipality of Quibdó (Chocó), on the Atrato River, resulted in the discovery of 6,000 gallons of DIESEL, stored and transported in rudimentary boats.
The operations carried out by troops of the Marine Infantry Battalion No.16 led to the discovery of this material, after inspecting, during the patrol for effective control of the area, the motor ships and verifying that the people transporting these elements did not have the documentation required for the possession, transportation and commercialization of the hydrocarbon.
Due to the illegal possession of these precursors, it is presumed they were destined for the manufacture and transport of illicit substances. During the operations, no arrests were reported and the material was put into custody of the National Police in Quibdó (in the department of Chocó).
With this finding the Units of the Navy of Colombia have completed more than 20,000 gallons of hydrocarbons found in their areas of responsibility in the Colombian Caribbean.
