The third anniversary of the instruction and training Center for Peace Operations (Cencopaz) was celebrated with a ceremony that was presided over by the Brigadier General of Marine Infantry, Ricardo Ernesto Vargas Cuéllar, Commander of the Infantry Training Base of the Navy and Lieutenant Colonel of Navy infantry Erick Humberto del Rio Rodríguez, Director of Cencopaz, accompanied by of a group of officers of the Coveñas Base.
The instruction and training Center for Peace Operations (Cencopaz) was created on February 18, 2016, with the purpose of training military and civilian personnel on topics to participate in Peace Operations conducted by the Organization of the United Nations (UN), with knowledge at the forefront of the world situation.
Since its creation, Cencopaz has trained through different courses about 927 members of the Military Forces and 212 civilians, courses that include, DDR (Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration), UN Military Observer, Gender in Peace Operations, UN Basic, UN War Correspondent, Instructor of UN Instructors, Military Police in Operation of Maintenance of Peace and French Intermediate and Official of Staff in Operations of Peace.
The instruction and training Center for Peace Operations is currently the representation of Colombia as a permanent member of the Latin American Association of Training Centers for Peace Operations "Alcopaz" and the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers "IAPTC".
In the same way, it has an agreement with the Peace Operations Training Institute "POTI" and has permanent instructors of the Federative Republic of Brazil and invited instructors of the French Republic. As part of its international projection, the Cencopaz sent last year an instructor to the Federal Republic of Germany for the Military Expert in Mission course.
During these three years of operation, Cencopaz has positioned itself as a Center for instruction and training for Peace Operations of regional and international projection, thus fulfilling the guidelines of the strategy of the Navy of Colombia, which fulfills the mission of protecting the Blue of the flag.
