8,822 gallons of contraband hydrocarbons have been found so far in 2019, ratifying the institutional commitment to protect the economy of the border area of the country.
In the framework of the operation carried out by the Colombian Navy against illicit activities in the Colombian Orinoquía region, it was possible to find 1,650 gallons of DIESEL of foreign origin, hitting in this way criminal organizations that perpetrate smuggling of hydrocarbons, in the department of Vichada.
Maneuvers of search, control, interdiction and fluvial security, framed in the operation "Pedro Pascasio Martínez", led the units deployed in the area of the National Park "El Tuparro" to find an illegal collection center, where individuals stored 30 plastic barrels, each with 55 gallons of fuel inside.
The hydrocarbon valued at approximately 18 million seven hundred seventeen thousand pesos ($ 18,717,000), was put into custody of the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs (DIAN).
The contraband of hydrocarbons is one of the sources of finances of organized armed groups that commit crimes in this border area of the country and that significantly hits the national economy. So far in 2019, the Naval Force of the East has achieved the discovery of 8,822 gallons of fuel illegally entered into the country by a cost of more than 100 million pesos.
