The Ground Operations Battalion No.109 captured seven members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, "Los Pedros" and seized 172 kilograms of the drug, valued at more than 1,400 million pesos.
The interinstitutional work carried out by troops of the Third Brigade of the National Army, with the Technical Investigation Corps, CTI, of the Prosecutor's Office, in development of military operations framed in the Bicentenary Plan 'Heroes of Freedom', led to the dismantling of the organized criminal group, called 'Los Pedros', which gets illicit resources at the service of the organized armed group, GAO 'Los Pelusos'.
Thanks to information from the Civic Participation Network and an exhaustive follow-up work carried out by the Ground Combat Battalion No.109 with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), through a control checkpoint on the road that leads from the municipality of Villacolombia to Jamudí, in the department of Valle del Cauca, it was possible to capture seven people who traveled in four vehicles that were inspected and reported by the trained dog for narcotics.
When doing the detailed search of the cars, troops found 172 packages of an approximate weight of one kilogram each, which contained a dusty substance that due to its smell and texture would be cocaine hydrochloride. Subsequently, the respective preliminary identification tests were carried out, which led to confirmation of the presence of this substance in the packages; it was put into custody of the authority.
On the other hand, it was established that among the detainees, there was alias 'Mocho', head of this organization that is in charge of financially supporting the company “Andrey Peñaranda” of the GAO 'Los Pelusos', through the crime of drug trafficking. At the time of the capture of this individual, he had with him 9,060,000 Colombian pesos.
The apprehended were put into custody of the judicial authority, where a judge sent them to prison for their presumed responsibility in the crime of manufacturing, trafficking or carrying narcotics.
With this result the dismantling of this group is achieved and a blunt blow is given to the illicit finances of the GAO 'Los Pelusos', which ceases to receive more than 1,400 million Colombian pesos, around US $ 447,042.
