The Colombian Air Force, through the Air Combat Command No.4, arrived at the municipality of Natagaima, in Tolima, to participate in the meeting led by the departmental government with the indigenous leaders, in order to know firsthand the needs, concerns and proposals of this people Pijao.
The meeting counted on the participation of different institutions such as the national Ombudsman, Municipal Ombudsman, Secretary of the governorate, Family Wellbeing, Transit and Transportation Section of Tolima, Secretaries of Education and Health, Army and National Police, among others.
The purpose of this important meeting, in addition to listening to the spokespersons of the different indigenous communities of the department, was to promote dialogue and respect for differences, ensuring compliance with the rights of Colombians, as well as peaceful protesting without inciting disorder and violence; situations that can trigger insecurity and uncertainty among the inhabitants.
The meeting ended with a positive report, where some agreements were reached. They would undoubtedly benefit the indigenous population and the rest of the citizens, such as the installation of the Monitoring, Guarantee and Respect Board, which will guarantee the fulfillment of the commitments agreed by the Government and the execution of the projects. Besides it will maintain the communication channels with the indigenous mingas of the department through the technical tables.
On the other hand, the children of this municipality had the opportunity to participate in an activity on the main field, where they could see for the first time a helicopter of the Colombian Air Force, most of them accompanied by their parents could not hide their surprised face. They could approach the aircraft to touch it closely. There the staff of crew members shared time and experiences with the children and they took them to sit in the cockpit of this powerful aircraft. Everybody saved this historical, unique and unforgettable moment through their cameras.
