The Maritime Traffic Control Tower of the Coast Guard Station of Coveñas received a call of the Department of Marine Operations of Ecopetrol, reporting that a watercraft was drifting, near its facilities.
Immediately, the Colombian Navy began a search and rescue operation, sending a Rapid Reaction Unit, finding a 49-year-old man and his eight-year-old son, in good condition. They proceeded to transfer them to the Coast Guard Station of Coveñas, where they received a medical checkup to verify their health status.
The Colombian Navy recalls the importance of taking preventive safety measures when boarding maritime transport, especially in tourism seasons, while reaffirming its availability 24 hours a day, at the line 146 to report any emergency.
