In its permanent operation to ensure the legal use of the sea and during a maritime search and control operation, the Colombian Navy managed to find 109,500 packs of contraband cigarettes, which were transported in the boat 'Poseidon', in the area of the Gulf of Urabá.
The confiscation occurred during security patrols and area control, carried out by the Urabá Coastguard Station, who intercepted the ship that had sailed from Celedonia - Panama and made transit near the municipality of Capurganá, municipality of Acandí - Chocó, when a detailed inspection was carried out, determining that the transported goods did not have the documentation that proves their origin and they did not have the import manifest issued by the National Tax and Customs Directorate - Dian.
The contraband merchandise found was given to the National Tax and Customs Office, who valued it at around 138 million pesos. In the same way, the three crew members of the boat were put into custody of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the prosecutor office.
