About 230 men and women, of the Fifth Brigade, of the Second Division of the National Army, participated in the IV Marathon for the Victims of the Armed Conflict and for Peace, organized by the Government of Santander and the Directorate of Victim Assistance.
The sports activity that took place in the framework of the National Day of Memory and Solidarity for Victims, commemorated last April 9, counted on the participation of approximately 1,200 people who joined to pay tribute to those who have suffered the ravages of violence, especially in the department of Santander.
On this occasion, the officers, noncommissioned officers, and soldiers under the leadership of Brigadier General Oscar Reinaldo Rey Linares, commander of this Unit, toured the four kilometers of experience that began and ended of the García Rovira Park, reaching the first places in the category Heroes.
Among the winners, a soldier who serves his military service in the Battalion Mercedes Ábrego and is a native of La Guajira, belongs to the Wayuú people, won the first place with a time of 14 minutes with 15 seconds on the route.
