Troops of the Navy of Colombia of the Pacific Naval Force, during a maritime interdiction operation, captured 11 individuals, apparently members of a Criminal Group at the service of drug trafficking, who were transporting four thousand gallons of gasoline, sailing in waters of the department of Cauca.
Units of the Marine Infantry Brigade No.2, intercepted four ships that sailed by the Buoy, in the municipality of Guapi - in the department of Cauca. The individuals, when noticing the presence of the troops, tried to flee, but the quick reaction of the military prevented they complete their plan.
The Colombian boats 'Ailin', 'Hay Dios mío', 'Con Dios estoy' and 'Iván Davi' that had no documentation, would have sailed from the department of Nariño and would have as destination the municipality of Puerto Saija, municipality of Timbiquí- in the department of Cauca.
The individuals are 10 Colombians and one Ecuadorian, who in the ships transported 71 plastic barrels, each with a capacity of 60 gallons of fuel, apparently brought from Ecuador illegally. It is presumed that the fuel would be used for the production of cocaine hydrochloride in Puerto Saija.
The men, apparently members of an organized criminal group at the service of drug trafficking, were taken to the municipality of Guapi - Cauca, to be put into custody of the authorities, for the possible crime of smuggling of fuels and their derivatives.
