In recent hours, the National Army, the National Navy and the Colombian Air Force managed to deal a resounding blow to the Domingo Laín Sáenz del Eln, in the department of Arauca, with the death in military operations of the main ringleader of the group “Camilo Cien Fuegos”, aka “Darío”, and the capture of three members of his security group.
The military offensive carried out in the village Cama Floja, in Arauquita, was carried out by the troops of the Quiron Task Force after intelligence work carried out by the Marine Infantry Battalion No. 52, which led to the finding of the terrorist and the capture of alias “Sombra”, alias “Negro” and alias “Daniel”, as well as the seizure of a rifle, a shotgun, two pistols, a night telescopic sight, a multipurpose vest, three units of campaign equipment and five motorcycles.
Alias “Darío”, 32, 16 years inside the organization, throughout his criminal career had occupied positions such as sniper, explosives expert, special forces, criminal intelligence, extortionist, leader of militias, instructor of new members of the guerrillas, an ideologist in mass management and leadership. He had, little by little, grown in the front “Domingo Laín Sáenz” until he reached the position of chief leader of the “Camilo Cien Fuegos” group.
Alias Darío is accused of multiple terrorist attacks against the energy and road infrastructure, more exactly against the Caño Limón - Coveñas petroleum Pipeline, the attack on the Saravena military base, on April 27, among other criminal operations against the region's settlers, selective homicides and obstruction of road axes.
At the place where the effective military operation was carried out, the GROIC, Judicial Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) entered by helicopter the zone for legal proceedings, meanwhile, those captured at this time face the respective judicial process.
This blow hits the ELN’s organization in the armed and ideological parts, it weakens the command and control of the different structures and destabilizes the morale of its men.
