These groups try to maintain their illicit trafficking routes on the border. These confrontations up to now carried outed in a contiguous area very close to the indigenous reservation sector of Santa Teresita, is precisely where the Marine Infantry troops are working to protect the indigenous towns, always guaranteeing the safety of the civilian population.
Operations of the Navy of Colombia in the area, will be permanent in this route of mobility of drug trafficking, maintaining the revision and checking procedures, to confirm intelligence information daily so that these criminals do not enter the communities’ territories protected by the Security forces.
The troops permanently take care of the community and its assets, maintaining communication with the inhabitants of the region and fulfilling the call to safeguard the physical condition of the communities, as it has been well established in the constant security councils.
After the confrontations, the Colombian Navy troops conducted a search in the area, in which they found two camp areas, one of the ELN and another of the GAO “Clan del Golfo”, one kilometer of the site of the clashes. These constructions were destroyed. It is presumed that this Organized Armed Group is fleeing towards the border with Panama, so the coordination with the neighboring country is already being carried out.
