The General Secretary of the European External Action Service, Helga Schmid, accompanied by of the Ambassador of the European Union in Colombia, Patricia Llombart, visited the facilities of the Navy of Colombia in Cartagena, in the department of Bolívar.
The purpose of this visit was to know procedures and strengthen the bonds of common cooperation on issues such as the fight against drug trafficking and other manifestations of transnational organized crime in the sea. In the same way, they spoke about the Colombian Navy participation in international crisis management operations.
The delegation visited the Coastguard Station of Cartagena, where it had the opportunity to see the different types of modalities to hide drugs, and also they learned about the results obtained in the fight against drug trafficking in the Caribbean. They also learned about the operational capabilities of the Colombian Naval Fleet, aboard the ship ARC 'Victoria'.
The high representatives of the European Union highlighted the great effort and contribution made by the Colombian Navy for the stability and security of the region.
