The continuous fight against drug trafficking that the National Army leads in the country, in joint and coordinated operations with the National Navy and the Colombian Air Force, last month left important results against the crime of drug trafficking.
The National Army with its territorial units and the Special Brigade against Drug Trafficking, in a coordinated and joint manner with the National Navy, the Colombian Air Force, and the Antinarcotics Directorate of the National Police, in May, carried out 19 operations against drug trafficking in the country, leaving 230 illegal laboratories dismantled.
The laboratories, 18 of Cocaine Hydrochloride and 212 of coca base paste, were found based on military intelligence information in rural areas of the departments of Norte de Santander, Nariño, Cauca, Antioquia, Putumayo and Caquetá. This generates a loss for the Organized Armed Groups of 3,890 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride, 2,373 kilos of coca base paste and 30,379 gallons of coca base paste in process.
In the same way, it was possible to capture 85 individuals for drug trafficking offenses, and find 60,881 gallons of liquid precursors and 73,821 kilos of solid precursors; 6,203 kilos of marijuana, 164 seedbeds with more than two million coca plants, and eradicate 3,792 hectares of coca in the country. With these results it is possible to hit the finances of drug trafficking by nearly 9 million dollars, which is equivalent to nearly 30,000 million pesos.
