In the framework of the Esparta Military and Police campaign, troops of the Vulcano Task Force of the Second Division with the support of the Anti-Narcotics Brigade and in coordination with the National Police, achieved in recent hours in the rural area of the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, the discovery of 163 gas cylinders that had been stolen last week, apparently by members of the Organized Armed Group GAO-Eln.
Through the timely operation of the troops and the permanent work of the military intelligence, it was established that the vehicle stolen along with the cylinders were abandoned thanks to the permanent pressure of the troops, in the rural area of the village of Angalia, municipality of Tibú, on the road towards the municipality of Versalles.
Once this important finding is reported, the Explosives and Demolitions Groups (EXDE) activated the safety protocols to conduct carefully and in a controlled condition the inspection of each of the cylinders, confirming that none of these had explosive charges.
The recovery of the 163 gas cylinders, managed to thwart the criminal plans of this armed group, who apparently intended to carry out terrorist operations against the civilian population and Security forces.
