Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, troops of the National Army, in coordination with the National Police report dealing an important blow to the illicit extraction of mining deposits in the rural area of the village la Selva of the municipality of Bochalema in Norte de Santander, where three individuals were arrested who were conducting mineral coal extraction without regulatory permits.
According to intelligence work, it was possible to establish that more than 40 tons of coal were being extracted daily at the site, which would have cost approximately 18 million pesos, through a rudimentary sinkhole from which more than 5,000 cubic meters of material would have been removed, generating significant environmental damage, due to the indiscriminate felling of trees.
In the same way, a power generator, a chainsaw, more than 10 gallons of fuel and various materials used for the illicit activity were found by troops and put into custody of the authorities along with the arrested people.
In this way, the National Army continues to conduct heavy operations against environmental crimes and ratifies its commitment to the protection of the natural resources of the department of Norte de Santander and the country.
