In a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy, the National Army, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to find 30 units of machinery and a dredger, used for the illicit exploitation of mining deposits.
In the Temuey village, in the Patidero and Río Napi, sectors in the rural area of the municipality of Guapi, department of Cauca, members of the Military Forces and personnel of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cauca - CRC, intervened eight mining fronts, reporting the finding of 3,734 pieces of wood, equivalent to approximately 160 cubic meters and six units of machinery used in illegal mining. In the same way, 24 units of machinery and a dredger for the river extraction of mining sites were seized preventively.
This operation significantly contributes to the protection of the environment, especially water resources that are polluted by these practices of illegal extraction in mining sites.
The materials were put into custody of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cauca - CRC. No arrests were made during the operation.
