The sea control and comprehensive maritime security operations carried out by the Colombian Navy in the central Pacific led to the interception of two ships crewed by five foreigners, in which 2,961 kilograms of marijuana were transported.
On board the first unnamed ship, crewed by three men, military personnel during the inspection procedure found 49 bags that by their characteristics and smell would resemble marijuana.
The individuals and the material were taken to the Special District of Buenaventura in Valle del Cauca, where the Technical Research Staff conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH on the packages, leaving positive result for 1,457 kilograms of marijuana.
Subsequently, another unnamed ship was intercepted and crewed by two men, which had 60 sacks apparently with drugs inside. The personnel and the material were in the same way taken to the main port of the Colombian Pacific, where the judicial authorities carried out the respective tests, determining that the packages contained 1,504 kilograms of marijuana.
The five individuals were brought before the authorities for the alleged crime of trafficking, manufacturing and/or carrying narcotics.
