A computerized medical equipment designed and manufactured by the Philips Company, arrived at the San Antonio de Mitú Hospital, Vaupés in a C-130 Hercules aircraft of the Military Transport Air Command- CATAM, thanks to a strategic alliance conducted by the Colombian Aerospace Force and the Air Service to National Territories- SATENA.
It is a 32-slice tomography system that integrates the proven technologies of the Philips company, designed to work in challenging environments with little space and that leads to having oncological, vascular, orthopedic, trauma type diagnoses; among others. “We seek to bring government services and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Mitú with technological innovation in health, so that people have access to specialized examinations without the need to be sent to other establishments of greater complexity. Phillips' vision for 2030 is to reach 2.5 billion lives worldwide.” said Juliana Jiménez- Logistics Manager Phillips Colombia SAS.
Thanks to the inter-administrative agreement, which has existed since 2015 between the two institutions and which aims to meet the needs of air transport to remote territories where commercial aviation cannot reach, it was possible to use the CATAM C-130 Hercules aircraft to transport the 6 tons of oversized cargo from Bogotá to the Fabio Alberto León Bentley Airport in Mitú. “The only aircraft that could provide this service is the C-130 Hercules, in Colombia there is no other with the capacity to carry this type of cargo to remote territories, that is why today we are fulfilling our social responsibility together with the resources of the Colombian Aerospace Force,” added Orlando Lozano Ramirez- SATENA Charter Flight Coordinator.
