From July 15 to 18 in the Air Combat Command No.1, CACOM 1, the Combined Exercise Relámpago 4 – 2019’ conducted by the Colombian Air Force and the South Carolina Air National Gard, of the United States, is carried out with the aim of improving interoperability and training as allied countries, under OTAN standards.
As a continuation of the international exercises in which the Colombian air force has participated with very satisfactory results and in fulfillment of its responsibility to defend and safeguard the airspace, sovereignty and unity of the country, the Colombian Air Force carries out, by fourth time, the 'Relampago' air combat training exercise in which more than 30 aircraft of the two countries participate.
During four days squadrons of air superiority (F-16 and KFIR), attack, transport, electronic warfare, refueling in flight, Harpia and rescue helicopters, among others, and their crews, will plan and execute training missions in order to acquire new capabilities, strengthening interoperability in different simulated missions, which will test their skills and experience in combined operations.
The official opening of the Combined Exercise Relámpago 4 - 2019 was chaired by General Ramsés Rueda Rueda, Commander of the Colombian Air Force, and Major General Andrew A. Croft, Commander of the 12th Air Force, USAF, who accompany their crews, giving this exercise a widely recognized importance.
