This operation dismantles and neutralizes the Jorge Iván Arboleda Garcés substructure of the Organized Armed Group GAO Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in the Middle Magdalena and northeast of Antioquia.
Troops of the National Army, in a joint operation with the Colombian Air Force, coordinated with the National Police and interinstitutional with the Prosecutor's Office, and following the recommendations of the control agencies, captured 26 members of the 'Clan del Golfo' of the Jorge Iván Arboleda Garcés substructure, which is the end of this logistics and financial structure.
In the framework of the operation 'Agamenón', which was carried out in parallel in rural areas of the municipalities of San Roque, Remedios, Vegachi and Puerto Berrio in Antioquia, when military and members of the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE) of the Police, received information from intelligence and the Civic Participation Network, about the presence of these criminals in the area. Subsequently, they deployed by land and air to capture these individuals.
Thus, in the first operation, 15 people with a warrant issued by the Attorney General's Office were captured and a minor under 17 who had been illegally recruited by this armed group was put into custody of to the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute. In the second operation four individuals were captured and in the third operation six other individuals were captured who were identified as alias ‘Paola’, ‘Coco’, ‘Cachipo’, ‘Nigua’, ‘Randy’ and ‘Niche’.
Those captured have court warrants for conspiracy to commit crimes for aggravated crime, for the purpose of homicide, drug trafficking and extortion, as well as the use of minors for the crime group.
These individuals had war material in their power, including a fragmentation grenade, cartridges and magazines for rifle, 10 cell phones, a motorcycle, a radio for military communications and a million and a half pesos in cash.
With this result, the logistical, financial and command and control structures of this organized armed group, as well as the criminal operations carried out against the civilians and the Security forces in the department of Antioquia, are heavily hit
