Troops of Brigade 13 captured eight people who illegally traded weapons with groups outlaw that commit crimes in Nariño and Norte de Santander.
Troops of the Military Police Battalion No.13 in coordination with the Military Counterintelligence Support Command of the National Army and the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office, captured eight people through simultaneous searches in the cities of Bogotá, Villavicencio, Medellín and the municipality of Chía, in Cundinamarca.
This network apparently would be responsible for the acquisition of war material illegally, in the departments of Cundinamarca, Antioquia and Meta, in order to sell it to different Organized Armed Groups and residual Organized Armed Groups of the former Farc that commit crimes in the departments of Nariño and Norte de Santander.
Among the eight captured there is an individual known as alias 'Gafas', the main leader of the network, who had been captured in 2010 for the same crimes, but after receiving the benefits of the Special Justice for Peace, he regained his freedom just to continue with his criminal acts. During the operation it was in the same way possible to find several parts of armament, such as spare parts for Galil rifle, M16 rifle and machinegun, and about 150 million pesos in cash.
The individuals will have to face charges of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying of weapons of restricted use of the Military Forces and conspiracy to commit crimes.
