The illegal complexes, apparently owned by GAO Eln, would have a cost of approximately 55 million pesos. The troops found them in El Retiro and Orú Siete villages in the municipality of Tibú.
With the firm intention of neutralizing the criminal and illegal operations of the Organized Armed Groups (GAO) that commit crimes in El Catatumbo region, and in compliance with the constitutional mandate, troops of the Second Division, of the Vulcan Task Force, dismantled in the rural area of the municipality of Tibú, in the department of Norte de Santander, two laboratories of the production of illegal substances allegedly belonging to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln.
The first military operation was reported in two areas of the department of Norte de Santander. The first operation took place in the sector known as El Retiro village in the municipality of Tibú, where troops of Artillery Battalion No. 30 'Batalla de Cúcuta', found hidden among the weed an illegal structure that produced coca base paste. In there, members of the Eln, front 'Luis Enrique León Guerra', stored 110 gallons of coca base in process, 55 gallons of refined gasoline (pategrillo), 25 kilos of urea, 20 kilos of lime and 4 metal barrels of 55 gallons each.
In the same way, in the village Orú Siete, of the same municipality, the second military operation was carried out. There, the soldiers dismantled the second structure where 220 gallons of liquid precursors and eight plastic barrels were used for the manufacture of the alkaloid; in the same it was property of the same organized Armed Group, the Eln.
The two laboratories, appraised approximately 55 million pesos, were dismantled by the troops, thus neutralizing the criminal operations of the GAO - Eln and its related structures, thereby causing irreversible damage to its illegal activities.
