A naval device was found found by the Colombian Navy when it was supposed to be loaded with alkaloid, in the Bocana sector of the Saija River in the municipality of Timbiquí, department of Cauca.
Thanks to information from Naval Intelligence, Units of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.42, attached to the Pacific Naval Force, intercepted the ship that was propelled by a rudimentary center engine, manned by two individuals; it was guarded by two lobster-type boats, with four armed individuals.
At the moment when these individuals noticed the presence of the military Units, they began to attack the troops with firearms, managing to scape leaving the submarine abandoned.
The naval device with 16.20 meters long, 2.4 meters wide and 2.20 meters high, had the capacity to transport up to four tons of cocaine hydrochloride. It was inspected by the Units, who found inside 103 kilograms of non-perishable food, which would be used by the crew for navigation, to get in Central America.
During the operation there were no captures. The semi-submarine and the food were put into custody of the authorities.
With this overwhelming result, the Colombian Navy manages to weaken the financial and logistical structures of the Organized Criminal Groups (GDO) linked to drug trafficking.
