The Colombian Navy through Pacífic Naval Force Units carried out operations in the Raposo River, in El Tigre, Cocalito and Guadualito sectors, rural area of Buenaventura, in the department of Valle del Cauca, to maintain river, maritime and land control, and meet the requirements of the communities to guarantee their safety.
Once troops knew information on possible clashes between Organized Armed Groups (GAO) during the first days of the year 2020, the Pacific Naval Force with the support of the Air Combat Command No. 7 of the Colombian Air Force (FAC) deployed aircraft to carry out flights on the zone, in order to monitor and accompany the troops attached to the Navy Brigade No.2 and the High Mountain Battalion No.3 of the National Army that are deployed carrying out joint operations to maintain land, river, and maritime control.
In this regard, contact was made with the National Police, United Nations Control Agencies and local authorities, to preserve the tranquility of the inhabitants, guarantee respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law and prevent forced displacements of communities in area.
Thanks to the presence of the troops, it was established that on the last January 4, 10 individuals carried long weapons in the Tigre sector, so operations were conducted, in order to find them and bring them to justice.
