January 15 represents an important date for the National Army, reminiscent of the event of one of the most significant battles in the process of independence of our country.
As usual, in the municipality of Popayán, the Twenty Ninth Brigade through the Battalion of Support and Services for Combat No.29 conducts a heartfelt celebration at the Hacienda Calibío, an environment where in 1814, royalist and patriots clashed in battle which led to the Patriot Army, led by General Antonio Nariño, to free the city of Popayán of the power of the Spaniards.
The Battle of Calibío is a historical event that places Popayán within the liberating deed and in the different Campaigns of the South that sought to defeat the royalist offensive in New Granada.
Lieutenant Colonel Darío Fernando Pérez, commander of the Battalion of Support and Services for Combat No.29 highlighted the importance of carrying out this type of commemorations, which seeks to remember the events that are part of the history of our peoples.
