Bogotá, January 20, 2020. From January 23 to 29, the first multinational strategic exercise 2020 will be carried out at the Tolemaida military base, with the participation of the Military Forces of Colombia, the United States and Brazil as an observer.
The multinational strategic exercise aims to reaffirm the capabilities of the Military Forces, share doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures, as well as increase training and facilitate multilateral operation with the Military Forces of the region.
These types of exercises become a tool and an opportunity to strengthen the fight against transnational threats, strengthen the fight against drug trafficking, exchange information and training, identify critical areas, strengthen security and obtain solid results against the different threats that loom over our sovereignty.
During the multinational strategic training, two operations will be carried out. The first consists of an airborne exercise for the jump of paratroopers from Colombian and from the United States; the second operation will be an air power defensive operation.
The Colombian Military Forces will present their capabilities and skills with the participation of the Special Forces Division and the National Training Center of the National Army and the decisive air component for the maneuver of the Colombian Air Force, consisting of kfir-type aircraft, C295 and C130 aircraft, helicopters and aeromedical transport units.
The United States will participate with 75 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, 40 members of the U.S. Southern Army and aircraft such as C17, C130J and B52; Brazil will participate with observers.
The multinational strategic exercises seek to increase training and ability of the Military Forces of the region to operate multilaterally.
