With the purpose of saving lives, the Colombian Air Force has C-295 Cassa aircraft, attached to the Military Transport Air Command - CATAM, to transport patients diagnosed with Covid-19 who require intensive care units, transporting them from the most remote regions towards the center of the country.
The plane is divided into three zones: one for the crew, which will be totally isolated; another for medical personnel; and one last for patients. Medical staff may move by sections 2 and 3.
The aircraft will be able to transport two critically ill patients, with independent intensive care units, prepared to operate autonomously during the flight.
The aircraft adaptation process helps provide sufficient space for the highest quality medical care, and the medical crew is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and equipment. Additionally, they have training provided by the Ministry of Health to transfer patients with positive results for the new Coronavirus.
