In a military operation carried out by soldiers of the Infantry Battalion No. 2 of Sucre, of the First Brigade of the National Army and in coordination with the National Police, in the hamlet known as Cunchala, rural area of the municipality of Otanche, in the west of department of Boyacá, they found a considerable amount of equipment and precursors for the production of alkaloids valued at approximately 300 million pesos.
Despite the action that the mentioned material was found in the open field, without any type of construction, the specialized technical analysis carried out by the authorities, show a monthly production capacity of one and a half tons of cocaine hydrochloride, which if commercialized in the illegal market may range from 6,000 million to 6,500 million pesos.
Among the elements found by troops there are compressors, “Martians” (a cylindrical rudimentary machine with two galvanized tubes in the upper part of the structure that is used for distillation in the process of cocaine hydrochloride. They are known as distillation towers), presses, microwave ovens, a vaporizer tank, motor pumps, electric pumps, a precision scale, gas cylinders, cable reels for electrical installations, galvanized tubes, more than 100 plastic containers of different sizes and fire extinguishers, and around 40 kilograms of hydrated lime and the same amount of hydrated charcoal.
The machinery and chemical precursors were destroyed under controlled conditions. With this, the illegal groups that live from this illicit business are considerably harmed. These activities indiscriminately harm the environment and attack the safety and well-being of the communities of in the department of Boyacá.
