In a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the National Police, the capture of an individual was possible for the crime of illegal carrying of weapons in the Municipality of Murindó, in the department of Antioquia. According to valuable information from intelligence agents, the individual would be part of the Organized Armed Group – GAO (in Spanish), Clan del Golfo.
This focused operation was carried out in the area of the Atrato river by Troops of the navy Infantry River Battalion No.16 and the Jungle Battalion No.54 attached to the Joint Task Force Titan, who detected the individual while carrying out a checkpoint on the San Alejandro village, finding him with 6 9mm caliber cartridges and 15 letters with key messages used for internal communication of this GAO.
The individual would have been two years the Pablo José Montalvo Cuitiva substructure of the GAO (Organized Armed Group) Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in several municipalities in the Urabá region in the department of Antioquia and in the department of Chocó.
The man, along with the war materials, were put into custody of officials of the Attorney General's Office and must face charges for the crime of carrying, trafficking and manufacturing of firearms or ammunition.
