In the last two days, nearly 4,698 baskets of basic food items of the family basket and food for 210 domestic animals were taken to the homes of the most vulnerable inhabitants of Cartagena, in the department of Bolívar, Santa Marta, in the department of Magdalena and the municipality of Soledad, in the department of Atlántico, thanks to the coordinated work conducted by the Colombian Navy, State agencies, civil authorities and the private sector of the Colombian Caribbean.
During the last days, the men and women of the Caribbean Naval Force and its Disaster Risk Management and Assistance Company have come to different peripheral sectors of these localities, to carry essential products in the family basket, drinking water and pet food, in order to supply households during Mandatory Preventive Isolation, which seeks to contain the spread of COVID-19.
In an uninterrupted way and accompanied by the departmental and local governments and personnel of the National Police and the Colombian Civil Defense, have visited door to door taking the Unified operation of the State in favor of those who most need this effective and timely help to stay at home and thereby reduce the numbers of people infected with the coronavirus.
The Caribbean Naval Force employs all its logistical and human capacities to support security, transportation, accompaniment and distribution of food baskets, drinking water and cleaning kits, which have been possible thanks to the coordinated and supportive work of the public and private sector.
