The Minister of Defense, Holmes Trujillo, held a virtual meeting with the Mayors and Government Secretaries of the cities that are part of Asocapitales, as well as with its executive director, Luz María Zapata; concerns and proposals were heard on the efforts being made by the Defense Sector to respond to the emergency by Covid-19.
"The purpose is to continue in this coordinated and permanent dialogue conducted by the National Government and municipal governments so that compliance with the measures is done with the greatest possible harmony", said the Minister at the end of the meeting, in which the Military commanders and Police commanders, the Director of Migracion Colombia and the Border Management office of the Presidency also participated.
The head of the Ministry of Defense announced that with the mayors of the capital cities “it was agreed to work on a joint protocol for the care of migrants who return voluntarily to their country.”
For his part, the president of Asocapitales, the mayor of Manizales Carlos Mario Marín, recognized the work of the Security forces in handling the emergency: “the control of each of the cities and this epidemic, a crisis that is no longer sanitary but humanitarian, has been handled on the part of the National Police, the National Army and all the control agencies”.
He reiterated the commitment of the Mayors of the capital cities to cope with the emergency, indicating that the crisis is being handled "with heartfelt help from Colombians and from each of the Mayors, in order to meet the humanitarian health requirements”.
