Navy employs its logistics capabilities to serve in support of the distribution of tons of humanitarian aid
There are already more than seven tons of humanitarian aid represented in more than seven thousand food baskets and cleaning kits, which have been distributed by the Mayor of Buenaventura, the private sector and non-profit organizations with the support of the Colombian Navy through the Pacific Naval Force.
With the #CorazónAzulado (heart beside you), men and women of to the navy Infantry Brigade No.2, have worked uninterrupted for 19 days, to serve of the people of Buenos Aires with the logistical capacities of this Operational Unit, which has led to benefit more than 24 thousand people.
These aid kits were transported aboard trucks, boats and ships, which have been distributed door to door in the homes of 11 of the 12 localities that make up the Buenaventura District. In the rural area, the inhabitants of the communities of the Anchicaya river, Raposo river, La Barra, Bajo Calima, municipality No.8, Puerto Merizalde and the La Mojarra indigenous communities have also benefited.
In the same way, our facilities have served as a warehouse to receive and store more than three thousand baskets of food that the National Government, through the Ministry of the Interior, will distribute to the people of Buenos Aires in the coming days.
In the framework of this health emergency, members of the navy Infantry River Battalion No.24, in alliance with non-profit organizations and a team of volunteer doctors and specialists have carried out two humanitarian assistance activities free of charge and have provided medical assistance in the communities of San Antonio and La Barra.
