Rudimentary ammunition (40-pound gas cylinder bomb) and two anti-personnel mines were found by troops at the site.
Soldiers of the Vulcano Task Force of the National Army found three improvised explosive devices in the rural area of the village of San Ramón, municipality of Sardinata, in the department of Norte de Santander; the explosives would belong to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Los Pelusos.
Using intelligence information, it can be established that these Explosive Devices, consisting of a rudimentary 40-pound gas cylinder bomb with a control cable activation system and two anti-personnel mines, would be activated against civilians and troops that my pass by.
Once the security protocols were activated, the Explosives and Demolitions Group (EXDE) controlled the detonation of the explosive charges preventing collateral damage.
The Vulcano Task Force will continue to carry out military operations for the safety and defense of the inhabitants of this sector. The VTF categorically rejects the use of this type of unconventional warfare methods that attack against life and violate International Humanitarian Law.
