The Colombian Air Force, in coordination with the National Personnel Recovery Center (CNRP), carried out the adaptation of a Cassa C-295 airplane to carry out the aeromedical transfer of a 21-year-old man who had acute respiratory distress from Puerto Leguízamo, Putumayo, complying with the safety regulations in the treatment of patients with Covid-19.
The request was met by the Military Transport Air Command, CATAM, which made the adjustments to the aircraft, dividing it into three zones: one for the crew, another for medical personnel; and a last one for the patient, who was taken in an isolation chamber with monitoring equipment from the Caucaya airport in Putumayo to Bogotá.
Once in the country's capital, the patient was transferred to the medical center of his Health institution, since his condition requires specialized assistance. In the same way, this operation had the highest biosecurity conditions, ensuring the health of the crew and medical personnel who provide support to these remote areas of the national territory.
