About 19 tons of medical and food precursors were transported in a Hercules plane of the Colombian Air Force, to help the people of the municipality of La Macarena, Meta, who, due to the pandemic and the difficulty of access by land, cannot be easily provisioned, creating a worrying shortage situation.
This important mission reflected the coordinated and inter-institutional work of the National Government, with local leaders, the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) and the Commandos of the air institution to coordinate cargo logistics and execute immediately a flight full of hope for Meta citizens.
The inhabitants of La Macarena received 400 food baskets arranged by the departmental administration, 389 food kits from the 'Helping is good for us' program, a campaign by the National Government, led by the First Lady, and 27 more provisions from the UNGRD . In the same way, in order to accompany and support the health personnel who provide their services at the local medical center, 200 kilos of medical material were transported to guarantee patients care in the hospital.
The timely transportation of these food baskets that contain the necessary elements of the family basket to supply a home made up of five people, will benefit 800 families in the municipality of La Macarena, thereby giving people a little peace of mind during this health emergency.
