During the last days, the crew of the Naval Force of the East transported more than 62 tons of humanitarian aid, which were collected in Bogotá and taken by land to the municipality of Orocué, Casanare, where they were shipped aboard the ARC "Rigoberto Giraldo ”, for more than 664 kilometers of water on the Meta river.
In the municipality of Santa Rosalía, 6.7 tons were distributed, represented in 380 food kits, later in La Primavera 9.2 tons and finally in the municipality of Puerto Carreño, 2,662 boxes of support kits were distributed, equivalent to more than 46.5 tons of humanitarian aid to guarantee the well-being of these prioritized and focused inhabitants, including indigenous communities and Venezuelan migrants in vulnerable conditions, thus benefiting more than 17,500 people.
This operation that helps to bring the Unified State services in a sustained way to the most vulnerable people in the contingency by COVID-19, talks place thanks to the inter-institutional work carried out by the Naval Force of the East, with institutions such as The Ministry of the Interior, the Vichada Government, the Municipality of Puerto Carreño, the National Army, the National Police, the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management - UNGRD and the National Organization of indigenous people of Colombia - ONIC.
