Committed to the preservation and protection of the environment and its natural resources, the Colombian Navy, through units of the Pacific Naval Force, seized 900 pieces of wood at the time they were transported irregularly in a boat in Punta Bonita, in the Buenaventura District, in the department of Valle del Cauca.
The decisive operations of control, security and maritime interception, added to the information of the Pacific Aeronaval Group, led the Pacific Coast Guard Units to intercept the tugboat named Icofran II, which was towing the wood.
The boat was escorted to the port of Buenaventura to later be put into custody of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Valle del Cauca, who when verifying the wood could confirm that it was 300 cubic meters of Sande-type wood, which would have been extracted in Puerto Saija, and had the Buenaventura District as its destination.
