Nearly 400 families benefited of the distribution of food baskets.
In order to continue supporting the most vulnerable communities during the pandemic caused by the covid-19 in a sustained and unconditional way, the Colombian Navy carried out, in coordination with the Municipal Mayor's Office, the humanitarian assistance activity in El Floral, municipality of El Carmen de Bolívar, in which more than 110 food kits were distributed.
After transporting humanitarian aid on board a tractor-type vehicle, the only means of transport that can enter this sector due to the difficult conditions of the access roads and the rains that are raging this days, the crew of the Infantry Battalion de Navy No.13 and officials of the Municipal Administration, began the operations by moving by roads and trails, to reach the houses of vulnerable families in this community.
More than 400 low income people, beneficiaries of the activity, received the aid in a timely manner, while thanking the presence of the crew of the Colombian Navy and delegates of the local government, to whom community leaders in the area expressed the community's deepest needs, while proposing possible solutions.
Thanks to this coordinated and inter-institutional work, this humanitarian support was possible to mitigate a high percentage of the needs faced by families in this rural area of the Montes de María subregion, due to Mandatory Preventive Isolation decreed by the National Government, as a measure to contain the spread of covid-19.
