At the time of their capture, it was noted that approximately 60 native tree species had already been cut down. Troops of the Fifth Brigade, an organization of the Second Division of the National Army in coordination with the National Police, captured six people who were allegedly trafficking wood in the area of Palonegro, in the municipality of Lebrija, Santander.
At that point, soldiers from Coronel Francisco José de Caldas Engineer Battalion No. 5, in the framework of Artemisa Major Operation, located the subjects who were cutting down trees of different species and in a truck type vehicle, they were carrying about six cubic meters of wood that would be illegally traded.
