1. According to the first information, at approximately 2:30 pm this Friday, April 26, six individuals with firearms arrived at an administrative area of Humanitarian Demining Battalion No. 6, threatened our units who are without armament in place, taking into account their humanitarian function, and proceed to incinerate a vehicle of this unit, which was duly identified with distinctive logos of the mission of the troops.
2. It is noteworthy that this unit, which exclusively carries out humanitarian demining operations, complies with the protocols established by the Ottawa Convention on the prohibition of antipersonnel mines, so that there is no armed personnel in the place of work, attending to the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality and impartiality under which they work.
3. These acts have already been brought for investigation to the judicial authorities, who will be responsible for establishing responsibility for the events and determining the subsequent operations for the implementation of justice.
4. The men and women of the Humanitarian Demining Unit and other material are in good conditions.
5. This command categorically rejects such acts that constitute a flagrant violation of the principle of distinction of International Humanitarian Law and put at risk the work carried out by the National Army to guarantee the fundamental right to life and restore the legitimate use of lands by the communities, participating in the reconstitution of the social fabric under the premises of legality, entrepreneurship and equity.
