Today, August 20, 2020, the Colombian Air Force, under the leadership of the Strategic Department of Legal Affairs and Human Rights and through the Strategic Section of Analysis, Context and Post-Conflict, delivers to the Comisión para el Esclarecimiento de la Verdad, la Convivencia y la No Repetición (Commission for the Clarification of Truth, Coexistence and Non-Repetition), two reports that reflect the historical evolution of the Institution, demonstrating that its constant transformation and evolution has been oriented to contribute to the fulfillment of the State's goals.
The first report: Air power in Colombia. Evolution of capabilities in the Colombian Air Force air bases 1916 - 2019, explains the development that the Institution had from the creation and evolution of the air bases and how this process led to the acquisition of flight equipment, the development of technological capabilities, the professionalization of military personnel and the growth of its infrastructure throughout the national geography.
On the other hand, the second report: Transversal History of the Conflict. Transformations of the Colombian Air Force between 1999-2016, explains the reforms and institutional changes that the Colombian Air Force (FAC) has made since 1999 in response to the various needs of the State. In this report, we sought to identify and analyze the internal transformations that the institution developed in terms of its strategic direction, its mission processes, and its support processes, which were essential to meet the challenges posed by the Colombian Non-International Armed Conflict. In this way, the report shows that the Colombian Air Force began the new millennium with a series of transformations that would strengthen its command and control, its doctrine, capabilities, education, human talent and technology for the adequate fulfillment of its constitutional mission. The Colombian Air Force confirms its willingness to continue to contribute to the mandate of the group and the other mechanisms of the comprehensive system of Truth, Justice, Reparation and non-repetition (SIVJRNR), demonstrating its commitment to peace-building through environments conducive to dialogue and national reconciliation.
