The head of the ministry of Defense said that the Military Forces and the National Police will continue with the operation to dismantle the Organized Armed Groups, GAO, who commit crimes in the south of the department and made a call to the community to provide information “leading to the capture of the GAO members who lead these structures, which are in the list of the most wanted released by the National Police”.
In this regard, he stated that the $80 million reward for information leading to the capture of alias Ferley, alleged member of the residual GAO, structure 10, “who would be primarily responsible for extortions on social networks and instant messaging in the Department of Meta " is in force.
In addition, Minister Trujillo reported that "the military forces will strengthen and increase military control operations over the area of Puerto Cachicamo, in the municipality of Puerto Rico, in order to cut off the mobility route of drug trafficking and organized armed groups."
As part of the Plan Meta Seguro (Safe Meta), the Military Forces will strengthen operations to counter extortion in the region, “with the support and focused intervention of Specialized Criminal Investigation teams against murder and extortion, under the direction of the Department's prosecutor's Office.”
On the other hand, the National Army and the National Police “will continue to conduct the campaigns for the Prevention of the recruitment of children and adolescents," Minister Trujillo said. In the same way, the Office of the District Prosecutor, with the support of the government and the Military Forces, will disseminate the different routes of action that were created to deal with domestic violence and violence against women.”
