The National Army through the Sixth Division and its program Fe en Colombia, troops of the Special Energy and Road battalion No. 9 General José María Gaitán of the Twenty-Seventh Brigade of Jungle and the radio station Colombia stereo, completed the construction of a greenhouse with the aim of optimizing a tomato plantation of the variety Rio Grande, in the indigenous Cabildo Pastos Oro Verde in El Yarumo De Orito, in Putumayo.
This work of communitarian development is 30 meters long and 34 wide. It was carried out in two activities. In the first, the structure was made and in the second, it was covered with plastic in order to protect the product of the cold currents coming of the flank of the Eastern Mountain Range; the rains were channeled into the straits of the plantation.
With this important work, 30 female heads of household benefit from this fruit, with which they replaced plantations of illicit use; they manage to produce two harvests a year, each of by one ton.
In the same way, the program Fe en Colombia of the National Army, managed a process of technical advice in order to ensure that this plantation grows organics, without using fertilizers or chemicals.
