- The 32 military GAULA (ANTI-EXTORTION AND ANTI-KIDNAPPING GROUP) groups in the country have focused their efforts to support the community through the implementation of different prevention activities against kidnapping and extortion, with the training of at least 7,560 people.
- In the last quarter, 437 workshops for self-care, accompaniment to 137 events of entrepreneurs and institutions of the State, 239 talks on regional radio stations, 15783 radio messages, 166 730 brochures with the helpline 147 and safety recommendations have been distributed, 650 checkpoints have been installed, 3 249 informative patrols have been conducted, 12.624 posters have been installed and distributed, 483 stands have been installed at shopping centres, baskets of food, parks, sporting events, and municipality hall and 222 activities of loudspeakers have been conducted.
The objective of these prevention activities is to show the importance of denouncing those crimes that attack the freedom and property of individuals such as kidnapping and extortion, reminding that the military GAULA (ANTI-EXTORTION AND ANTI-KIDNAPPING GROUP) is a special group fully trained in rescue and capture operations, for which it is essential that no Colombian pay any small extortion and led experts to protect them. Thus, they have been strengthening their work in the country contributing to the protection of Colombian families.
It should be noted that the methods most used by criminals in 2020 to extort victims have been 2,462 phone calls; 1,161 cases by social networks (this method increased during the health emergency crisis by Covid-19), 1,092 cases personally; and 144 through menaces brochures.
