The strengthening of the health area in these Catatumbo municipalities was possible thanks to the Coordination of the Army, through the Support Battalion of Comprehensive Action and development No. 2 and its program Fe En Colombia, the agency for renewal of the territory (ART in Spanish) in the framework of the development program PEDET (in Spanish) and the Turkish Cooperation Agency.
In Ocaña, at the facilities of the Infantry Battalion No. 15, Francisco de Paula Santander, the commander of the Second Division of the National Army, Brigadier General Marcos Evangelista Pinto Lizarazo accompanied by of the Agency for Renewal of the Territory distributed the biomedical elements donated by the Agency of Turkish Cooperation (TIKA) to the mayors of Hacarí and Teorama.
The items that will be distributed to the health centres, the hospital Emiro Quintero Cañizares, include hospital mechanical beds, birthing beds, monitors of vital signs, electrocardiographs, fetal monitors, nebulizers, gynecological equipment, optical fiber equipment, and ophthalmoscope equipment, small surgery, oxygen for adult and pediatric, among other items and biomedical items fundamental to the operation of a medical center.
With this distribution, more than 29,000 inhabitants of these two municipalities will benefit and now they have top quality biomedical technology to meet different needs in the area of health, to face the pandemic COVID-19.
