The operation of the Colombian Navy in the Colombian Pacific does not stop. In Bajo Baudó region, during a search and control operation, it was possible to capture eight suspected members of the organized armed group, Gao, Clan del Golfo; in the same way troops found war material, military accessories, communications equipment and cash.
In the sector of Virudo, troops of the Navy Battalion No.22, attached to Navy Brigade No.2, of the Pacific Naval Force, held an armed confrontation with members of this organized armed group. During the searches it was possible to capture one of the individuals who tried to flee and whohad a pistol caliber nine millimeters, a magazine for the same arm, nine cartridges of the same caliber, a communication radio and about one million pesos in cash.
In the sector of Palo Secal, in the area of Virudo, thanks to the pressure of the troops and guided by intelligence information, a camp area was found where seven individuals were hiding. These alleged members of this organized armed group, had with them 12 40-millimeter grenades, a Galil rifle, Six magazines and 395 cartridges of different calibers, nine radios, a boat, a 200-horse engine, military accessories, identification bracelets of this organized armed group and clothing for the exclusive use of the military forces.
Among those captured there is Alias JJ, who served as Area Commander in the Bajo Baudó region. He was wanted by an arrest warrant for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes, illicit enrichment and forced displacement.
The individuals were taken to the Municipality of Bajo Baudó, to be taken to Quibdó and put into custody of the Attorney General's Office.
This substructure was responsible for controlling drug trafficking routes in several areas of the Department of Chocó, including the North Zone of Bajo Baudó, conducting criminal activities in the communities of cantil, Virudo, Terrón, Villa María, Pilizá, Playa Nueva, Puerto Granado, El Firme Nicaragua, San Miguel, Valerio and punta de Purricha. They in the same way coordinated activities with other structures of the GAO Clan del Golfo that commit crimes in the Nuquí, Aruzi and Coquí sectors.
