Military operations carried out by the National Army in the Department hold a frontal fight against the crime of micro trafficking.
In military area control operations, soldiers of the Engineer Battalion No. 5 Coronel Francisco José de Caldas of the Fifth Brigade, of the Second Division, in coordination with the traffic and Transport Police of Bucaramanga and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, reported the finding of more than 4,900 grams of cocaine in two points of Rionegro, Santander.
In the first operation, during a checkpoint on the sector known as Puente Tierra of the municipality of Rionegro, after search work with anti-narcotics dogs conducted on a bus of collective transport of passengers, a cargo was found. It contained about 1.555 grams of cocaine and its derivatives. For this fact, a person was captured and put into custody of the judicial authority.
On the other hand, through information provided with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the prosecutor's office, it is known the distribution of narcotic drugs that apparently would be carried out in the sector of Vijagual, where the soldiers arrived and, in perimeter searches, they noticed the presence of an individual carrying a black bag, who, when detecting the checkpoint fled the place, leaving abandoned the package that inside had four pressed bags wrapped in plastic tape, with about 3.420 grams cocaine.
